FICA's Security Consultant gives World Cup Security Arrangements positive report

The Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA), Chief Executive Tim May, today confirmed that FICA's security consultant, Eastern Star International (ESI), has completed a review of the Security Plans for the 2011 Cricket World Cup and has found the plans to be sound.

May said that ESI had informed they were confident that provided the plans are implemented in a professional manner the risk to the players in this event will be minimized as far as possible.

"Obviously the plans are only a part of the security solution, and now it is up to the World Cup security personnel to ensure that the plans are implemented as laid down.

May says "FICA appreciated the co operation of the International Cricket Council in the provision of such confidential information to FICA's security experts.

"Players across the world have increasingly looked to the reassurance of independent reviews of security plans following the attack on the Sri Lankan Cricket Team in February 2009.

"It is pleasing that the ICC have recognized the right of players to review security arrangements put in place to protect the safety of the players

"Provision of security in the World Cup is a massive challenge to the organizers of the Event, with 14 teams moving around 3 countries. It is a significant and complicated task to protect players, officials and spectators. May said.
