NZCPA Acknowledges Passing of former NZC CEO Christopher Doig

13 October

The New Zealand Cricket Players’ Association acknowledges today’s passing of former New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Christopher Doig CNZM.

Doig was Chief Executive of New Zealand Cricket from 1995 through 2001 following a very successful singing career. He undertook many other significant roles in New Zealand sport following his time with NZC including being a Director of SPARC and the NZRU.

Heath Mills, Chief Executive of the NZCPA, said the thoughts of all members of the NZCPA will be with the Doig family at this sad time.

“On behalf of all members I wish to offer our thoughts and condolences to the Doig family.”

“It was a privilege to have known Chris and there is no question the country has lost a great New Zealander today. Chris made an enormous contribution to sport, the arts and gave great service to the community – he will be greatly missed.”

“We especially recognize his contribution to cricket where he led NZC into a more professional and commercial era during his tenure as Chief Executive. Significantly, he was also a key architect with Sir John Anderson of the ICC Future Tours Programme which now provides the foundation for all international cricketing scheduling.”
