NZCPA | Recent News | FICA Confirms Players Owed Payments from IPL 3
29 September 2011Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) Chief Executive Tim May confirmed today, that a number of players are owed contract payments from the Indian Premier League / BCCI."A number of players whose contracts were "subsidized" by the BCCI, have recently contacted FICA to assist in recovering the amounts owed by the BCCI. "These amounts relate to IPL3 that was held in March/ April in 2010"Affected players include Simon Katich and Ramnaresh Sarwan."Despite numerous attempts by the players to recover these amounts, not only do the amounts still remain unpaid, but IPL/BCCI has recently failed to respond to communications made by the players and their representatives."FICA last month wrote to the IPL Chairman Mr Chirayu Amin on behalf of the players to draw his attention to the matter, but to date neither we nor the players have received a response to this matter."We trust with the recent appointment of Mr N. Srinivasan as President of the BCCI, and the appointment of Mr Rajiv Shukla as Chairman of IPL, that these two gentlemen will ensure that BCCI will address these payments as a matter of urgency.Tim May - FICA Chief Executive Phone: +1 512 944 9139Email: tbamay@gmail.com Website : www.thefica.comNotes to EditorsThe Federation of International Cricketers' Associations (FICA) was established in 1998 to co-ordinate the activities of all national players' associations which protect the interests of professional cricketers throughout the world.
